Signs you have a water problem

What Treasure Coast water is telling you

Homes here run on one of two kinds of water: city water from a utility, or a private well. The signs are different for each.

On city water

  • A pool-like chlorine smell when you run the shower
  • Tap water that tastes like chemicals, so you buy bottled
  • White crust on faucets, showerheads and the dishwasher
  • Spots on glasses, dishes and glass shower doors
  • Skin that feels dry and tight after a shower

On a private well

  • Orange or brown stains in toilets, tubs, sinks and laundry
  • Rust-colored streaks where sprinklers hit the house, driveway or fence
  • A rotten-egg smell, often strongest from the hot water
  • Water with a metallic taste
  • A well that hasn’t had its water checked for bacteria in a while

Not sure which you have? If a utility bills you for water, you’re most likely on city water. Either way, the FREE on-site water test shows what’s going on with yours.
